POLIMI is the largest Technical University in Italy with a total of 2.800 staff and 42.000 students. The unit involved in the project is the Biomechanics Research Group of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering. Lead Scientist: Alberto Redaelli, PhD in Bioengineering (1995), Associate Professor. Responsible of the Student Exchange programs for the Biomedical Engineering School. Author of 120 peer reviewed articles, local coordinator of 5 EU funded projects in FP6 and FP7. Key competences of the unit: cardiovascular mechanics, fluid structure interaction, mock loop design&manufacturing, microfluidics/lab-on-chip design&manufacturing, molecular modelling.
